Nov 16, 2023 One Year Ago: Artemis I Lifts OffNASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), carrying the Orion spacecraft, lifts off the pad at Launch Complex 39B at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 1:47 a.m. EST on Nov. 16, 2022. Set on a path to the Moon, this officially began the Artemis I mission. For those of you that signed up through your local library to add your name to go to space. The Artemis project will allow this to happen. Over the course of 25.5 days, Orion performed two lunar flybys, coming within 80 miles (129 kilometers) of the lunar surface. At its farthest distance during the mission, Orion traveled nearly 270,000 miles (435,000 kilometers) from our home planet. On Dec. 11, 2022, NASA’s Orion spacecraft successfully completed a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Pacific Ocean at 12:40 p.m. EST as the final major milestone of the Artemis I mission.https://www.lawrencememorialdistrictlibrary.org/news-events/news/nov-16-2023-one-year-ago-artemis-i-lifts-offhttps://www.lawrencememorialdistrictlibrary.org/++resource++plone-logo.svg

Onyx Storm the third in the Empyrean series is in and available.Rebecca Yarros is an American author. She is best known for the Empyrean fantasy book series, which will be adapted into a television series with Amazon; Yarros will serve as a non-writing executive producer. Yarros graduated from Troy University, where she studied European history and English. The series has three books to date, and we have at least one copy of each. The author promises the series will have five books, in total. The Empyrean did not just explore new territory for its protagonist — it also marked a new literary adventure for Yarros, 43, who had tons of experience with writing about love prior to Fourth Wing, but fantasy? Not so much.https://www.lawrencememorialdistrictlibrary.org/news-events/news/onyx-storm-the-third-in-the-empyrean-series-is-in-and-availablehttps://www.lawrencememorialdistrictlibrary.org/++resource++plone-logo.svg

Library quotes From Presidents of the United States Of America“If this nation is to be wise as well as strong, if we are to achieve our destiny, then we need more new ideas for more wise men reading more good books in more public libraries. These libraries should be open to all—except the censor. We must know all the facts and hear all the alternatives and listen to all the criticisms.
